On Friday I went to the massive game of Capture the Flag put on by newmindspace in the financial district. Jason came with me, although once the game started we didn't see each other again until the end, despite being on the same team. With a playing field spanning from Front to Queen between Yonge and University and an estimated 400 players in attendance, that's not so surprising.
Teams were divided according to different coloured glo-sticks: I was blue. After the game started I ducked behind enemy lines, and suddenly I became paranoid of anyone who approached until I could clearly see whether they were sporting a glo-stick or not. If they wore blue, they were friendly and we'd stop to exchange rumours of where the flag was hidden. If they wore green, they were enemies, and I'd run away, duck behind a parked car, or in at least one case, get a running start to a flying leap over the wall surrounding the unfinished foundation of the Bay Adelade centre.
I can't even describe the excitement of sneaking through the path to get through neutral territory, or bouncing off a car trunk up over a chain-link fence (in retrospect, maybe I shouldn't have done that, but there was no harm done) or running full-pelt from three enemy sentries on longboards and bikes. I'm really looking forward to the next game, on U of T campus, in two weeks. You should come.
I then spent the night at Jason's, where we watched Spongebob Squarepants and played with the kittens. In the morning he took me out for breakfast and then we went for a long bike ride through High Park and along the water front. I really want to get a bike already. I keep calling Canadian Tire and they keep telling me they don't have any assembled.
Yesterday Ryan and I finally had a meeting at the sex store that is going to be supporting our all-dildo-and-butt-plug animations. I took home a stack of sex toy catalogues to look through to pick out the toys we want to use (this will probably be the strangest casting assignment of my career). I think the most unusual things I've seen so far are 1. the fake vagina thing that plugs into your USB port and comes with software that makes a CGI character (Nurse Nicci - which I think they intend to be pronounced Nikki, but as far as I know would actually be pronounced Neechee in any culture that actualy uses double c's) "react" to your "strokes", and 2. "Jizz", which is a lubricant designed to imitate the "look, smell, and taste" of semen.
We've decided what our first animation is going to be, and we're hoping to have it done by the end of the month, but I'm not going to say anything more than that.
